Jets Working On A Deal With Teddy Bridgewater

Josh McCown Jets

All three of the Minnesota Vikings' free-agent quarterbacks apparently have found new homes. It's been a long offseason, too, waiting to find out what direction the Minnesota Vikings wanted to go at quarterback.

The deal will reportedly pay McCown $10 million for the 2018 season.

The Jets still own the No. 6 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, and they could still take a quarterback with that selection. At age 38, McCown was able to stitch together his best season as a professional, coming up with career-best figures of 2,926 passing yards, 18 passing touchdowns, and a 67.3 completion percentage.

Bridgewater, 25, missed the entire 2016 season and all but one game in 2017 after suffering a torn ACL and dislocated knee during training camp in 2016.

It is still remarkable that he is still in the league and poised to become a starting quarterback again after a dislocated knee during training camp prior to the 2016 season nearly led to the amputation of his leg. Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg are likely both goners. Earlier on Tuesday, the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the Jets and Bridgewater were working on a deal.

Instead, a 5-11 record has the Jets choosing sixth in the draft, a pick that could be used on one of a number of promising first-round-caliber quarterbacks whether it be USC's Sam Darnold, UCLA's Josh Rosen, Wyoming's Josh Allen, Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield or Louisville's Lamar Jackson.

While Bridgewater, 26, is still young, he comes with plenty of risks, so the Jets are smart to have other options in place.
