James O'Brien Was Shocked By This Call On Child Exploitation

"The ... 18-month investigation reveals abuse on unprecedented levels".

In the 14-year-old's case, those who were supposed to help her essentially threw her back into the hands of her torturers.

She said: "I hated what was happening and my abusers made my skin crawl but I was told that if I said a word to anyone they'd come for my little sisters and tell my mum I was a prostitute".

British lawmakers are calling for an independent investigation into yet another large-scale child exploitation operation in the United Kingdom, following an explosive report in a Sunday paper alleging decades of sexual abuse by gangs of South Asian men.

However, although police caught and jailed a handful of perpetrators as a result of their investigation, cops who spoke to the Mirror said their information actually showed that up to 200 men were involved in abusing a hundred different victims between 2007 and 2009 alone.

The problem is not limited to one city though.

Councillor Davies said: "I grew up in Telford and was at school when numerous horrific cases reported over the last few days took place". An estimated 1,500 were abused in Rotherham, the report states.

"However, I feel we must do everything possible to know and learn further from what happened in the period before Operation Chalice jailed seven men for vile crimes against children". The sentences added up to 49 years, seven years each on average.

The probe found that two predatory pedophiles began targeting girls from a local children's home in 1981. Some were Asian, the paper stated. Their house was set on fire.

She was first targeted by Azhar Ali Mehmood in 1997 when she was 13.

"We are acting as if we didn't know about child sex abuse rings", she told the Mirror.

According to other victims, Lowe's brutal death was used as a warning to other girls.

Vicky tragically died from a drugs overdose at the age of 20 and her sister Emma said: 'I have no doubt Vicky would still be here if she hadn't been so badly abused - yet the people who made her life hell still walk the streets'. Liz Kelly, a professor at the Child and Woman Abuse Studies Unit at London Metropolitan University, says the true number of victims may never be known because young women are reluctant to come forward for fear their abusers will retaliate.

Two years later, 13-year-old Becky Watson died in a vehicle accident. At the time, it was described as a prank gone wrong.

"We are good at identifying white girls but are less able to identify young men, young people from ethnic minority backgrounds, from travelling communities, or with learning or other disabilities".

"Girls like Becky were treated like criminals", said her mother Torron Watson. "If Becky's abuse had been properly investigated by the authorities more girls could have been saved from going through this hell".

The report said the authority was not fit for objective and had been in complete denial after an earlier inquiry found that 1400 children, some as young as 11, were abused in Rotherham, by gangs of predominantly Asian men.
