Jaguars Fully Committing to Run Game With Andrew Norwell Signing

New Giants general manager media Dave Gettleman speaks

The Panthers elected to address other members of the offensive line, as right guard Trai Turner received a four-year, $45 million extension and free agent Matt Kalil was handed a five-year, $55.5 million deal.

As first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter early Tuesday morning, Norwell is planning to sign a five-year, $66.5 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. At $13.3 million per year, he'll be the NFL's highest-paid guard.

Many believed the Colts to have heavy interest in Norwell, who could have upgraded the offensive line in a big way, something that has become a project since Andrew Luck was drafted in 2012.

One of the biggest players in National Football League free agency last year, the Jacksonville Jaguars hope they're spending well again this year: the team has reportedly agreed to a five-year deal with left guard Andrew Norwell. Third-year player Joshua Garnett missed all of last season with a knee injury and is an uncertain fit in Kyle Shanahan's offense.

The Norwell signing comes as a bit of a surprise because the New York Giants were reportedly close to landing the top-rated guard.

San Francisco last season allowed 43 sacks, tied for the seventh most in the NFL.
