Heavy rain and snow on the way this week

Expect a quiet and cool start to the work week

There is going to be a stiff breeze out of the north at 8-12 miles per hour which will make our air temperatures in the mid 40s feel like the mid 30s. Temperatures are starting out in the low 40's to low 50's in the valley this morning, and in the 20's to mid 30's in mountain areas.

We get a change in the upper level patten and high pressure building in at the surface. We took a step in the spring direction this past weekend as we sprung ahead our clocks back to daylight saving time. Some spots reported bouts of light snow, but this managed to quickly melt away with temperatures remaining above freezing. Temperatures should stay fairly warm, topping out in the 50s and 60s and dropping into the 30s and 40s at night.

Tuesday welcomes the chance for rain showers throughout the day with the best chance kicking up by the afternoon. Sunshine will be the main feature in our clear sky today.

More snow showers will move through Tuesday morning, and continue off-and-on through the afternoon and evening. A light coating of snow is possible. Although the weather looks fairly quiet the rest of the week, it also will be cooler than average for March and feel more like winter than February did around here.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy skies and chilly temperatures will be around, with an overnight low of 45 degrees. Tuesday and Wednesday's daytime highs will only be near 60, although both will be sunny days.

FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy skies and the chance for a wintry mix develops, with afternoon high temperatures around 45 degrees.
