Austin Wyatt Rollins, the 17-year-old who opened fire on classmates at Great Mills High School in Southern Maryland last week, injuring one and killing another, died from shooting himself in the head, officials investigating the case said Monday.

- The 911 calls made from inside Great Mills High School during a shooting that left one student dead and another injured describes the chaotic scene after one of the wounded victims took shelter in a classroom following the gunfire. The gunshot also struck another student, Desmond Barnes, 14.

Rollins continued through the school where he was quickly confronted by Deputy 1st Class Blaine Gaskill, who fired at Rollins. He shot her in the head once with a round that also hit Barnes in the leg. Barnes fled to a nearby classroom where a teacher called 911. Rollins died later that morning at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata.

Authorities said Wednesday Rollins used his father's legally owned Glock handgun in the attack. "You need to stay strong with me buddy".

More than eight minutes into the call, the teacher puts Barnes on the line with the 911 operator.

Barnes would later be released from a local hospital, with Willey remaining in intensive care at UM Prince George's Hospital Center for almost three more days. Simultaneously, Gaskill fired a non-fatal shot, striking the weapon in Rollins' hand. "But there's a girl outside my door bleeding on the ground".

One female caller who crouched behind a desk in room with students cowering reported she saw an injured girl in the hall.

The dispatcher asks what the problem is.

Willey, who had a relationship with Rollins that had ended recently, suffered injuries that proved fatal after she was taken off life support late Thursday night.

The Peace Rally and Candle Light Vigil was held to show support for Great Mills High School staff and students.

Jaelynn is the second-oldest of nine children in her family and was on the school swim team, her mother said.
