Governor Invites Trump To Visit California's Central Valley

Trump’s California “War” Zone Visit Border Wall Marines Jerry Brown Beverly Hills

President Trump will travel to the "Sanctuary State" of California Tuesday; visiting the U.S. border with Mexico and inspecting various prototypes of his proposed wall while meeting with law enforcement officials in San Diego and Los Angeles.

According to Trump, Peña Nieto said: "Mr. President, I would like you to make a statement that Mexico will not pay for the wall", to which Trump replied: "Are you insane?"

However, California - a state overrun with left-wing progressive activists groups and lawmakers - has so far proven to be a problem for the president's agenda.

On Tuesday, Trump will be making his first trip to California since assuming the presidency in January 2017.

He has committed to fighting the state's position on illegal immigrants, and Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that he will be suing the state over this sanctuary status last week.

Brown, who has emerged as one of Trump's most prominent antagonists, asked Trump to visit Fresno and Madera, where workers are building bridges and viaducts that will eventually connect Los Angeles and the Bay Area via high-speed rail.

"It's all Kabuki, and it's bad Kabuki at that", said Bill Whalen, a research fellow at Stanford's Hoover Institute, adding that if Brown really wanted to sit down with Trump, he could have met him on the tarmac in San Diego. And the Golden State - the sixth largest economy in the world - is thriving.

But, there are also consequences for Republicans.

"And yet we get no help from the state of California". State Sen. Ricardo Lara, D-Bell Gardens, called Trump's first visit to California, only to see prototype border walls, "shameless" and called on state Democrats to "ramp up the pressure".

"We don't need his racist walls", Pedro Rios, director of the American Friends Service Committee's U.S. -Mexico border program, said at a news conference in Barrio Logan's Chicano Park. "Have (Trump) fix his own house before throwing stones".
