Ed Dickson signs with Seahawks

Bradley McDougald

Brown played primarily as an outside receiver last year for Arizona (listed as being in the slot about 27 percent of the time by Pro Football Focus) and as such would seem created to replace Richardson, who played mostly on the outside last year for the Seahawks but signed a five-year, $40 million deal earlier this week with Washington.

New Seahawks tight end Ed Dickson spent the last four seasons with the Panthers. He finished his four-year college career with 124 catches for 1,557 yards and 12 touchdowns. While at OR, he majored in Family and Human services.

Pryor is coming off a disappointing season with Washington, in which he had just 20 catches for 240 yards and one touchdown in nine games. Primarily used as a run blocker, Dickson saw his role in the Panthers passing attack increase significantly after Pro Bowler Greg Olsen went down with a broken foot. Dickson compiled 30 receptions for 437 yards and one touchdown. It seems pretty clear that they're bringing him in to do that - to block.

While Dickson is not going to be the dynamic playmaker that Graham was at the tight end spot, Dickson will at least be a reliable set of hands who will share snaps with fellow tight ends Luke Willson and Nick Vannett. "Which I don't think was a bad decision".
