Dolphins want to move on from Ndamukong Suh after acquiring Robert Quinn

NFL trade rumors Rams sending DE Robert Quinn to Dolphins

The Los Angeles Rams have been making some pretty huge trades over the past year, and have just made another.

Schefter has the Dolphins giving up a mid-round pick for Quinn while NFL Network's Ian Rapoport has the teams swapping draft picks. According to Adam Schefter, the Rams have traded defensive end Robert Quinn to the Miami Dolphins.

Details of the trade, which won't become official until March 14 when the league year officially begins, weren't immediately known, but it is expected to include an exchange of draft picks.

It's fitting that trading Quinn saved the Rams almost $12 million in cap space, and they would be on the hook for just $11 million this season for Talib.

The Rams will reportedly receive a mid-round pick from the Dolphins, who have one selection in the third and two in the fourth.

Quinn is a two time Pro-Bowl DE but is coming off a back surgery that hurt his statistics in 2017.

Last year, Quinn played 15 games and racked up 8.5 sacks.

Trading Talib would save the Broncos $11 million, and help them achieve their goal of maximizing cap space for a quarterback (Kirk Cousins the obvious top target). However, Quinn only turns 28 years old in May. Quinn will play opposite Cameron Wake, which makes for one heckuva pass rush.

The Dolphins' sack total last season was not commensurate with their salary cap commitment. And they could cut ties with inside linebacker Mark Barron, which would save them $22 million toward the cap over the next three seasons. In the the previous three trades the Dolphins made at this time of the National Football League season they reworked three of the four contracts they acquired, eliminating a year on Thomas' and Hayes' deals, and reworking guaranteed money for Maxwell.
