Dion Lewis' $11.5 million in guarantees too rich for the Patriots

Patriots Rumors: At least three teams in on Dion Lewis

The Lions were interested in Butler as a No. 2 cornerback, but after he chose the Titans, they reached agreement on a two-year, $10.3 million contract with their No. 2 cornerback from last season, Nevin Lawson, per Jason La Canfora. A former Patriots executive in Jon Robinson runs the Titans front office, and he hired former Patriots linebacker Mike Vrabel to be his coach this year.

Butler was also part of the Patriots' Super Bowl LI 34-28 overtime victory against the Atlanta Falcons. Indeed, Butler played in every regular-season game from 2015-17, starting all but one. There's another $3 million via incentives. By seasons end, he was known for not playing a single defensive snap in New England's Super Bowl LII loss, a curious decision by Bill Belichick that still has Patriots fans searching for answers. Butler later denied any off-field misconduct, saying he never missed a curfew or did anything to hurt the Patriots' chances.

Lewis rushed for 896 yards this past season with six touchdowns, adding 214 receiving yards and three additional scores. In 14 games the previous two seasons, Lewis caught 53 passes for 482 yards and two touchdowns.

The Titans parted ways with one-time rushing leader DeMarco Murray, but have power back Derrick Henry to pair with Lewis.

The hero of Super Bowl XLIX with a game-saving interception, Butler spent in New England four memorable years that included notable highs and lows. Butler is not coming off a career year, but he's played well in recent seasons despite often following top opposing receivers.
