Danny Amendola set to swap Patriots for Dolphins

According to Dan Hellie of NFL Network and other reports, the Miami Dolphins are expected to sign former Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola.

Danny Amendola is staying in the AFC East, just not with the Patriots. However, he did his best work during the playoffs, where he caught 33 balls for 348 yards with two touchdowns in three games.

Amendola, who began his career with the St. Louis Rams, has started 29 of 80 possible games for the Patriots, contributing 2,383 yards and 12 touchdowns on his 230 receptions from Tom Brady and New England's other quarterbacks. Amendola played through a torn groin in 2013, knee and ankle injuries that required surgery in 2015 and managed that balky knee for the duration of the past two seasons. The team is also reportedly signing Chiefs slot receiver Albert Wilson.

However, it's far more likely that a big part of the success that stemmed from the Welker move was one Peyton Manning.

As for New England's receivers heading into 2018, they have Brandin Cooks, Julian Edelman (who should be back after missing the 2017 season), Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett and Malcolm Mitchell under contract.

Amendola goes to the Dolphins amid what's being termed a "culture change" in Miami.
