CM Punk's Second UFC Fight Set?

Coach Duke Roufus has kept fans up to date with Punk's training and says he has improved

Punk (0-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC), a former professional wrestler who reached the apex of his stardom with the WWE, has spent the past several years training MMA. Eventually he committed to giving the 39-year-old another opportunity, and when the organization announced UFC 225 would takes place in Punk's backyard of Chicago, it seemed like a natural fit for his return. Punk was asked when we were going to see him cry in The Octagon again.

Punk, who lives in his native Chicago, immediately said he meant to fight again but has been relatively quiet since.

After that defeat at the hands of Gall, UFC President Dana White had mentioned to the media that Punk's next fight probably should take place somewhere else.

"June Nine, after I win and lock eyes with my attractive wife, embrace my coaches and shout out my entire team", Punk tweeted. Punk has only one career UFC fight on his resume, a first-round submission loss to Mickey Gall at UFC 203 in 2016. Punk has no amateur MMA experience to speak of and he does train with Roufusport out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Punk responded by dropping a hint about his next fight.

The UFC 225 pay-per-view event is scheduled to go down on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. While having a hometown favourite with tremendous mainstream exposure on a UFC main card makes sense, the UFC has not yet confirmed that Punk will indeed be fighting at UFC 225.
