Chuck Todd Deadpans After Steve Mnuchin Defends Trump's Vulgar Rally Remarks: 'Hilarious'

Earlier on Saturday Trump had claimed that the'fake news had changed their response to his newly announced meeting with North Korea

"I don't allow them to say anything negative, ever, about the president". Todd added he'd love to have Trump guest on Meet the Press "any Sunday".

The NBC personality tweeted late Saturday night urging viewers to set their DVRs to record his show "before your eyes get too sleepy". Todd interrupted. "Don't worry about him as a role model?"

After yet another political rally in which President Donald Trump called Democrats and members of the media names like "low IQ" and "son of a bitch", Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin refused to condemn the attacks. He did that throughout the entire presidential election.

Trump, meanwhile, seemed to have monitored at least some of the Sunday morning news shows, though he did not single out Todd or Meet the Press by name on Twitter. "He's using these vulgarities in the context of a campaign rally, and obviously, there were a lot of amusing moments on that rally".

"I've been with the president and, and at campaigns. And the president likes making amusing names", he added, in reference to the president referring to Maxine Waters as "a very low-IQ individual". "He's using those vulgarities in the context of a campaign rally".

Todd continued to lecture about role models, but Mnuchin said his focus is on policy, though he did note that "there were a lot of amusing moments on that rally". "What do you - what are you supposed to say when he is using these vulgarities, to kids?"

"I'll be with my kids this morning, and I'll be focused on them, on what the president is doing to protect the United States, its citizens, and more importantly its economy", Mnuchin replied.

Todd wasn't amused. "Yeah, they were hilarious", he said before ending the interview.

"Yesterday's rally was sort of him unleashed, which is why he went after his favorite targets in the media", Todd said, noting the United States president is welcome on "Meet the Press" any Sunday he wants.
