Amazon's Alexa Keeps Laughing Randomly And It's Creepy AF

To remove the "creepy" factor, Amazon said in a statement that Alexa will now say, "Sure, I can laugh' which will then be followed by laughter". The laugh wasn't in the Alexa voice.

Amazon says it's "working to fix" whatever is causing the virtual assistant to start laughing after several users reported hearing unusual, unprompted laughter coming from the device. What they will be working on now is to change the command to something longer like, "Alexa, can you laugh?" to avoid these accidental, random cackles.

As we mentioned yesterday, there were numerous reports of Alexa randomly laughing on Twitter. The retailer said in an email that the laughs only happened "in rare circumstances" because the speaker was reacting to a "false positive" for the command "Alexa, laugh".

How would you feel if you Amazon Echo device would laugh like a manic in the dead of night? You can also ask for genres, but you can get even more general than that by asking Alexa to just play something you haven't heard lately. "It was really creepy".

The firm says the glitch is caused by its digital assistant "mistakenly" hearing "Alexa, laugh", and it has disabled the feature.

Amazon is aware of the problem and is now "working on a fix".

A Twitter user wrote: 'I think it's Skynet starting up!

Welp, guess that's one command we will never, ever say. Meanwhile, you should update your Amazon Echo in order to avoid this creepy bug from emerging.
