Allen Robinson Set to Join Chicago Bears

He said: 'For me, it's a lot of teams out there who not only have interest in me, but who I have interest in. The benefit to him is he'll be 27 when it expires and set up for a big deal if his play merits it.

The Chicago Bears are hoping for a turnaround in their fortunes with Robinson, who now steps in as their immediate number one choice.

Well, he officially will on Wednesday. However, he has proven talent with more than 2,200 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns from 2015-16. There also are concerns about his drop in production in 2016 (73 catches, 883 yards, six touchdowns) after his breakout campaign in 2015 (80 catches, 1,400 yards, 14 TDs). Robinson, 24, had 48 catches for 548 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie before a knee injury ended his season after 10 games.

Speaking on SiriusXM's Mad Dog Sports Radio on Monday, Robinson singled out the Chicago Bears as a potential fit. Check out Dan Durkin's film breakdown of Robinson. After that, restricted free agents who earn tenders are only allowed to negotiate with the franchise they played for this past season.

That historically bad season at receiver put the franchise in position to aggressively find Trubisky a No. 1 wideout.

Robinson's injury paired with the Jaguars' tight salary cap situation led to him hitting the open market.

Here's a look at what the Bears have done.

Through his first three offseasons Pace's free-agent track record isn't good. After leading the National Football League with 31 catches of 20 or more yards in 2015, Robinson had just 11 in 2016. The Bears also are interested in receiver Albert Wilson. They reportedly were targeting Sammy Watkins, too, but the former No. 4 overall pick is heading to Matt Nagy's former team, the Chiefs, according to ESPN and NFL Network, with a contract that is worth more per year than Robinson's.
