South Carolina officers 'ambushed' in shooting, 1 deputy 'hanging on to life'

One of the SC officers shot during an ambush early Tuesday morning has died, according to the York County Sheriff's Office. Brown has been with the force for 13 years and Doty has spent 12 years in law enforcement.

Det. Mike Doty was shot while he and two other deputies searched for a man suspected of beating his wife in the couple's home. Doty died yesterday, according to the York County Sheriff's Office in SC.

A SC sheriff's detective has died after a man, who was wanted for assaulting his wife, "ambushed" and shot him and three other officers, officials said Wednesday.

Funeral arrangements for Doty will be made in the coming days, according to the sheriff's office.

"He's just a police officer that every agency would be proud to have", Rep. Bryant said.
