White House releases Results of Trump's Physical Examination

In general, though, Jackson was upbeat about Trump's physical condition, prompting questions about how a septuagenarian man with such seemingly poor habits, including little apparent exercise apart from golfing (while driving in carts) and an affinity for greasy fast food, could fare so well in a thorough examination.

For almost an hour Tuesday, Jackson stood in the White House briefing room, answering questions from reporters about President Trump's physical exam, conducted last Friday.

A medical by a Navy doctor found Donald Trump's health to be "excellent" this week - but the president's measurements have been met with scepticism from the public.

Several others followed suit, comparing the 45th president who allegedly has a penchant for McDonald's, to the likes of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

'He's very sharp. He's very articulate when he speaks to me, ' Dr Jackson said of Trump's cognitive abilities.

He said that Trump scored a ideal 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, which is created to detect Alzheimer's disease and mild cognitive impairment (but is not equivalent to a psychological examination).

Jackson said the test is "sensitive enough" to identify any potential problems.

Jackson described the president's cardiac performance as "very good" owing to a lifetime of abstaining from alcohol and tobacco.

"Absolutely, he [Trump] is fit for duty".

'That did drive part of the process, ' Jackson said Tuesday. We have conversations about many things.

Trump 'wasn't, obviously, the least bit concerned that he had anything to hide, ' he added, 'and so he actively asked me to include that in it, and so we did'.

Knopman called the test "reliable and valid", noting that it's been around about 10 years, but said it doesn't tell us everything.

He said he would benefit from a diet lower in fat and carbohydrates, and from a routine exercise regimen.

Where Dr. Harold Bornstein was shaggy and sensational, Jackson was all business, reading off test results in his blue and gold dress uniform.

Trump's resting heart rate was 68; his blood pressure 122/74 and his heart exam overall was "normal". His "bad" cholesterol or LDL is 143; a score of below 100 is recommended.

Moreover, Trump is taking Propecia for male-pattern hair loss; and Ambien to relieve temporary sleeplessness. 'It was longer. It was the more hard one of all of them'.

Dr Jackson credited the results to genetics.

He said that while Trump "doesn't have a daily exercise regiment", Trump "has a lot of energy, a lot of stamina".

"He's more enthusiastic about the diet part than the exercise part, but we're going to do both", he said.

'The answer is he has incredibly good genes, it's just the way God made him.

United States political blogger John Aravosis said: "Increasing feeling like Trump's doctor lied, about a lot".

"He's just one of those people who does not require a lot of sleep", he said.

Mr Trump was 70 when he took office on January 20, 2017, making him the oldest person ever elected to the presidency. That's because Trump "has a very unique ability to just get up in the morning and reset" or "push the reset button", which "has helped him with his stress level".
