Trump Rips 'Sneaky' Sen. Feinstein for Releasing Full Trump-Russia Dossier Testimony

Trump blasts

Dianne Feinstein for releasing a transcript of the interview that Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson gave to the Senate Judiciary Committee in August. It comes a few days after Republican senators Chuck Grassley and Lindsey Graham recommended that the Justice Department investigate Fusion investigator Christopher Steele-author of the notorious so-called Steele Dossier-claiming that he may have lied to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Simpson said he was dubious about Steele's plan to tell the Federal Bureau of Investigation it was a national security issue.

Mr. Trump claimed on Twitter that the California Democrat has stated on "numerous occasions" that no collusion took place between his presidential campaign and Russian Federation during the 2016 election.

Steele later told Simpson that he believed the FBI would consider his information credible because the bureau had corroborating intelligence, including from a human source within the Trump organization.

Last fall, Feinstein, 84, announced her decision to seek a sixth Senate term this year. In exchange, Durbin said people would be allowed to stay in the US who fled here after disasters hit their homes in places including El Salvador, Guatemala and Haiti. The former reporter for the Wall Street Journal commissioned what proved to be Steele's salacious - and unproven - dossier on Trump's alleged ties to Russian Federation.

Kevin de L-on, the California state Senate president, is challenging her from the left - charging that Feinstein hasn't been aggressive enough against Trump.

Christopher Steele told the political research firm that hired him, Fusion GPS, that what he uncovered from Russian sources was serious enough to bring to the attention of USA law enforcement authorities, according to a transcript released on Tuesday.

Trump has derided the dossier as a politically motivated hit job.

Last week, Americans who are paying attention watched Senators Chuck Grassley and Lindsey Graham vilify, libel, slander, and abuse criminal process to attack the integrity of the investigators behind the Trump Russian dossier.

The referral to the DOJ was made over potential false statements to investigators over the distribution of the information contained in the dossier.

Mr Simpson's firm Fusion GPS commissioned the dossier, which was initially paid for by a conservative website and later by Democrats. Shortly after, Feinstein released the transcript. "So, you know, that tells you something about somebody".

Republicans were not pleased with Ms. Feinstein's actions, however, and accused her of undermining the committee's work. Fusion GPS had been hired by law firm Baker Hostetler to research the Prevezon Holdings litigation, which involved claims that $230 million was fraudulently taken from the Russian treasury and used to buy property in Manhattan.

A former investigative reporter for The Wall Street Journal and Roll Call, Simpson - who I'd never heard of before - has a reputation as a dogged investigator who specializes in mining public documents.

Simpson was not under oath but the Fusion GPS founder still brought along attorney Joshua Levy.
