Students, teachers rejoice when power returns to school in Puerto Rico

School officials there say they spent 112 days in the dark.

This one's a pretty powerful one, so prepare yourself.

The Academic Bautista de Puerto Nuevo in San Juan posted a short video on its Facebook page that showed students jumping for joy and running around the halls while teachers rang bells.

When Hurricane Maria slammed into Puerto Rico on September 20, the storm took out power to most of the country's homes, businesses, hospitals and schools.

And what's got them so excited will both warm and break your heart: their power's just been turned on after 112 days.

ABPN's bittersweet video went viral this week, and people have noted how truly heartbreaking the joyous video is when you think of what the kids and teachers have gone through.

Hurricane Maria knocked out most of the US territory's decades-old power grid in September, leaving millions of citizens without electricity to run homes, hospitals or schools.

Hurricane Maria caused an estimated $95 billion in damage, and killed dozens of people.

When we lose power, we're generally ropeable after 30 minutes of darkness.
