Paige's In-Ring Career Is Over

Paige's In-Ring Career Is Over

WWE management likes her and is likely to continue to involve her somehow. Inside the ring, sadly, that will not be the case.

According to a report from PWInsider, Paige's in-ring career in WWE is over due to injury. The Divas division, which has since been rebranded as the Women's division, was hardly getting any time to perform on WWE programming such as Raw and Smackdown when Paige made her main roster debut.

PWInsider was first to report the news this afternoon and we've confirmed the information to be accurate with multiple sources.

Her latest injury occurred when she was kicked in the back by Sasha Banks during a house show match. Paige, obviously not ready for the bump, went down. However, due to these circumstances, it appears she has no chance of getting back into the match. The referee checked on her and called for the bell. After several minutes, Paige walked out under her own power. The former Women's champion is credited as being one of the wrestlers who spearheaded the Women's revolution in the company and was many fans' pick to walk away as the victor of the first ever Women's Royal Rumble.

Paige's injury came, as most injuries do, at the worst possible time.

Paige-real name Saraya-Jade Bevis-is only 25 and WWE apparently sees potential for her outside the ring. In the end, the District Attorney's office opted not to move forward with the prosecution. Nearly immediately, the trio was clicking, feuding with Sasha Banks, Bayley and Mickie James.

What do you think of Paige's in-ring "retirement?" FCW would eventually transform into today's NXT brand, and Paige would become a huge star with the NXT crowd in short order. She is still expected to be featured as the mouth piece for Absolution.

Paige won that title on two occasions, and was also the first NXT Women's champion. She would hold the Divas championship twice.

Paige has had an extremely turbulent year as she was suspended in August 2016 after failing the company's wellness policy.

Of course, The Rock is producing WWE Studios' forthcoming film "Fighting With My Family", which will be released theatrically September 14th.
