Nissan ProPilot parks SLIPPERS and more at Japanese Hotel

Even if you don't think that Nissan is a technology leader, there's no question that they are certainly having the most fun.

Nissan has made these self-parking slippers for a state-of-the-art hotel in Yokohama, the ProPILOT Park Ryokan, where traditional Japanese hospitality meets Nissan's autonomous driving technology.

First introduced in the all-new Nissan LEAF in Japan in October 2017, ProPILOT Park detects surrounding objects and lets drivers automatically park the vehicle in a selected parking space by pressing a button. You wouldn't know it from looking at it, but both everything from the guest slippers to the pillows that adorn the rooms have some tricks up their sleeves.

As is customary, shoes are removed upon arrival (hence the provision of slippers), rooms are divided by shōji, the country's characteristic paper doors, and floors are covered in tatami mats. But when the slippers are revoked and not in use, they automatically return to their designated spots at the push of a button.

The slippers have two tiny wheels, with a motor and sensors. So Nissan decided they needed a more fun/bonkers/informative (delete as applicable) way to shout out ProPilot Park. This style of accommodation typically includes slippers for the guests, along with low tables and floor cushions for seating.

Nissan's ProPILOT Park system was first released on Japanese roads in October of past year with the new Nissan Leaf.
