New iPhone update to show 'battery health' following slowdown controversy

The new battery features will be available to customers with iPhone 6 or later devices, while opting out of dynamic power management will be available to users with various models of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 7.

Apple's change log could change during beta testing, but we expect most of these features to emerge on board the official version of iOS 11.3 this spring. Apple apologized past year for slowing down older iPhones, a move it said was necessary to avoid unexpected shutdowns related to battery fatigue. Additionally, users will be able to see whether an existing power management feature is turned on, and then turn it off if they choose. These can be found in Settings - Battery and are available for iPhone 6 and later.

The new iOS 11.2.5 software update is now available as an over the air update. This latest update includes a feature that shows the health of your phone's battery, as well as if it needs to be serviced.

The iOS 11.3 update will also contain a little fun; it'll introduce four new Animojis that include a dragon, bear, skull and lion for a total of 16 different characters.

Apple is making augmented reality on the iPhone and iPad more immersive in iOS 11.3.

Performance is reigned in only on devices which suffer from battery degradation, and Apple says that it only introduced this feature in iOS 10.2.1.

Apple issued a rare public apology and pledged to reduce the price of an out-of-warranty iPhone battery replacement by $50 - from $79 to $29.
