NBA All-Star Game 2018 Rosters: Starters, Snubs and Predictions for Reserves

Joel Embiid Named All Star Starter Ben Simmons Does Not Make Final Cut

However, Embiid, who helped lead the 76ers to a stunning win over the Boston Celtics this evening, joked after the game that he has already moved on.

Being named an All-Star starter is quite an achievement for Embiid for both his basketball career and his love life. The teams will be picked by two captains in a pick-up game situation.

The other starters named for the Eastern Conference along with Embiid and James are Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo, Boston's Kyrie Irving, and Toronto's DeMar DeRozan.

After the votes were tallied, players were ranked in each conference by position (backcourt and frontcourt) within each of the three voting groups - fan votes, player votes and media votes. The fans account for 50 percent of the vote total, with a panel of media members and players accounting for 25 percent each. In fact, Porzingis did beat out Embiid in the player voting, 100-94.

Not surprisingly, as soon as the starters were announced, players that many feel should have made the list began floating around social media.

Head coaches vote in seven reserves from each conference, and James and Curry continue drafting from that pool after they have drafted from the starters' pool. But at press time, no information on what the jerseys will read has been released. The 2018 NBA All-Star Game is at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, Feb. 18 at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on TNT and ESPN Radio.
