Meizu M6s first in company line with a Samsung Exynos processor

Meizu M6s first in company line with a Samsung Exynos processor

Meizu M6S is the company's first smartphone of the year and it has all the goodies that you would expect in an entry level handset of 2018.

Instead of following essentially everyone else in the mobile device-making business with a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, Meizu is positioning the biometric sensor of the all-new M6s on the side of the phone. Black, blue, gold and silver models are on offer.

The phone, which bears more than a passing resemblance to Apple's iPhones, is driven by a 2.0GHz Samsung Exynos 7872 hexa-core processor with ARM Cortex-A73 architecture - the first time for an M series device. The phone features the same U shaped nano injection antenna design that we have seen on flagship grade smartphones.

The company has also introduced the "Super mback" circular on-screen button and got rid of the "mback" physical home button.

In terms of imaging, the Meizu M6s is using a 16-megapixel Samsung camera sensor, and it has autofocus, ƒ/2.0 aperture, and 1080p video recording. There is 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. The Meizu M6s is priced at CNY 999 around ₹9,900 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage and CNY 1,199 around ₹11,900 for the 3GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage variant. Despite the odd position, Meizu said the sensor could unlock the device in mere 0.2 seconds. A 2,930mAh non-removable battery had also been mentioned by TENAA (China's equivalent to the FCC), and the device will be made out of metal, and sport rather thin bezels, it seems.

As for the software, the Meizu M6S will come with Flyme 6.2 version based on Android Nougat. It will come equipped with a 16MP rear camera along with an 8MP front-facing camera. Meizu is calling this virtual halo button as Super mBack, and the user can swipe left or right on the bottom part to switch between the apps. The phone features a dedicated pressure sensor chip and linear vibration motor (in the circle), allowing you to control your phone with simple gestures. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and 3.5mm audio jack.

The phone goes on sale via JD.com, Meizu Mall, Lynx, and Suning on January 19 at 10:00AM.
