Matt Lauer still sending notes to 'Today' producers, report says

On Tuesday, when NBC announced that Hoda Kotb would be Matt Lauer's permanent replacement on "Today", it felt like poetic justice that a woman, particularly a woman of color, should take the coveted co-anchor seat for the country's most-watched morning news show. Certain texts popped up, and there was one from Matt: "'Congratulations!'" she said. Reports in Variety and The New York Times detailed a sordid history of sexual harassment and assault allegations against the anchor, who had been a fixture on "Today" since the mid-1990s.

Kotb's salary could get a big boost after her promotion. However, a NBC spokesperson declined to comment on the matter. Kotb will now join Savannah Guthrie to host the first two hours of the program.

The salary of Kotb has not been revealed but for her, it's not about the money at all.

According to Page Six, "Today" show staffers are less than pleased with Lauer's reported meddling. Somebody did the math on social media and concluded that Kotb is getting only $0.28 for every $1.00 Lauer was getting.

She has been a longtime employee of NBC, she has been spent two decades at the network, Kobt is filled in for absent hosts in the earlier hours of TODAY in the recent years, she also continued as a co-anchor in the fourth hour with Kathie Lee Gifford.

He has been really focused on his family these days and Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie claimed that she has been in touch with him and he is with his family where he belongs.

"It meant the world to me to hear from him", Kotb said. According to Page Six, Kotb has reportedly landed a $7 million per year deal for her new gig-not a bad paycheck, but about $18 million less than the $25 million haul Lauer was making before his termination.
