Man Fatally Shoots His Mother After Broken Video Game Headset Dispute

His 68-year-old mother Lydia came up to check on him and an argument erupted.

But a police spokesman told the station that officers had visited the home after a fight between Nicholson and his parents once in the past six months, before Thursday, when they would arrive too late.

"It was the father calling to report that the son had shot his wife in the head", Ceres Police Sgt. Greg Yotsuya said, according to a report by KTXL. A fourth struck his mother in the head, killing her.

Matthew Nicholson's sister Autumn White paid tribute to their mom and expressed, "I will everlastingly adore you, my closest companion, my picked one, my forever, my eternity my defender, my inspiration, my approval, and now my gatekeeper blessed messenger". "This house has always been open to friends and family and it's always been a family atmosphere". His mother, Lydia Nicholson, game in and an argument ensued.

The 28-year-old began shouting while he was playing computer games in his room on Wednesday night, police said.

Matthew then fled the scene, with police catching up to him near a relative's home and arresting him for homicide. Officers spotted the vehicle and arrested Nicholson without incident.

Investigators are still working to determine what drove Nicholson to kill his own mother.

"What the detectives are investigating now is what led up to this".

Ceres police took Nicholas to the police department for questioning then later booked him into the Stanislaus County Jail where he's being held without bail. "Was it the video game or was there something else going on".
