
The government on Sunday made it clear that it will leave "no stone unturned" to ensure the passage of the contentious triple talaq Bill in the Budget session of Parliament, which begins on Monday.
"We will leave no stone unturned and persuade and request all political parties so that the Bill is passed in the Rajya Sabha, as it has been in the Lok Sabha", he said when asked about the triple talaq Bill after the meeting. He said, the government will persuade all the parties to pass the bill in the Rajya Sabha unanimously.
"We hope the triple talaq bill is passed in the Rajya Sabha too", Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said after the meeting, Deccan Chronicle reported.
Talking to reporters later, Kumar said the meeting was "fruitful" and discussions were held in a cordial atmosphere.
Congress leader Pramod Tiwari said that "These issues are important".
As President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi pitched for its early passage in the Budget Session of Parliament, Asma Zehra, convener of the Hyderabad-based Muslim Mahila Reasearch Kendra, said the bill went against the interests of women and children.

In the previous Winter Session that concluded on January 5, both the Houses had passed 12 Bills, including the Indian Forest (Amendment) bill, 2017, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (amendment ) Bill, 2018, and the Companies (amendment) Bill, 2017.
The Finance Minister will present the Union Budget 2018 for the fiscal year 2018-19 on February 1. "Cutting across party line even the MPs from the ruling party highlights its short-comings while the members of opposition highlight its salient feature", Modi said in crucial media address ahead of the Budget session.
Opposition leaders are likely to meet on Monday to push for unity.
The first phase of the session will be from January 29 to February 9.
