Federer Beats Berdych Again At Australian Open, Chung Stops Sandgren

Switzerland's Roger Federer celebrates beating Czech Republic's Tomas Berdych in their men's singles quarter-finals match on day 10 of the Australian Open tennis tournament in Melbourne

"Dreams come true tonight".

Although nicknamed "professor" for his scholarly look, Chung has shown humour on the court, working the crowd with a hand-flapping celebration like many a show-boating National Basketball Association player.

"Unbelievable performance from both of us and really unfortunate for Rafa", Cilic said.

Berdych took an off-court medical evaluation, but came back out.

Berdych, a semi-finalist in 2014 and 2015 at his most successful major, easily beat Fognini with the 32-year-old saying: "I'm really enjoying every single moment on court".

However, in his post-match interview, the defending champion admitted he knew the ball was good, and said he used the chance to vent some of his frustration in order fire himself up. "I'm not in my underwear, so maybe it's not a dream".

He wasn't expected to encounter too much trouble with Fucsovics and so it proved with three service breaks, and no break points on his own service along with 34 winners.

"Trying to keep riding the wave", said Sandgren, who was named after his great-grandfather and who comes from Tennessee.

Roger Federer put all his experience into play as he outclassed 19th seed Tomas Berdych 7-6 (1), 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals of the Australian Open on Wednesday.

This was a first meeting for the pair, although Federer played Fucsovics' coach Attila Savolt in the second round in Melbourne 16 years ago.

In the second men's quarter-final of the day, and the final one of the round, Tomas Berdych faces the unenviable task of defeating Roger Federer, with the Swiss legend having won their last eight head to head matches.

The opening set essentially turned on a few moments late on, where the 19-time major title victor found his form in a hurry to come from behind and deliver a devastating psychological blow to his opponent.

Kerber, the 2016 champion here, plays Hsieh Su-wei of Taiwan. "I was feeling I was running everywhere". The pressure is on Tennys Sandgren, and it begins to show on Sandgren- after this Chung wins the third set by 6-3 and booked his first memorable semi-final berth.

Top-seeded Simona Halep, who had to rally from triple match point down to advance through the third round, beat Naomi Osaka 6-3, 6-2.

Federer improved to 20-6 against the Czech winning nine straight including three straight years in Australia. And Federr goes out of his way to invite many of them to practice with him at tournament, and do training blocks with him at his base in Dubai.

"I like to play freestyle", Hsieh, a two-time Grand Slam doubles titlist, explaining her unusual array of shots. First time in the semis, you're like, "I'm going to tear this place into pieces, I've got incredible power right now".
