The US markets all finished in the green, with the Dow, Nasdaq and S&P 500 all up around one per cent. While the rally has been great for investors, it is mostly due to a handful of stocks that are creating an uneven index, which usually results in some sort of change coming.

"You've got a bullish start to the earnings season and earnings are expected to be strong for 2018", said Adam Sarhan, CEO of 50 Park Investments.

Corporate growth is good, but not as good for key stock indices to soar like this.

NEW YORK, Jan 18 (Reuters) - A gauge of world stock markets slipped on Thursday, pausing after notching a run of record highs, as a decline in Boeing and interest-rate sensitive sectors such as utilities and real estate weighed on US equities. It closed Monday above $70 a barrel for the first time since December 2014, helped by a depreciating U. The company said it expects to inject US$350 billion in the USA economy over the next five years due to the new tax law, and will create 20,000 new jobs. "The gains have been made thanks to optimism over the Republican tax cut and hopes it will boost corporate profits and provide a fresh spark to the economy".
