Cary girl, 6, dies days after flu diagnosis

6-year-old North Carolina girl dies days after flu diagnosis Emily Muth

Her dad Nathan Muth said: 'The flu is no joke right now. "It's unpleasant. I don't wish this on anyone", she said. During the 2015-2016 flu season, 92 children died from the flu, with 10 child deaths by this point in the season.

But the next day she stopped breathing, with paramedics unable to save Emily's life.

And on Friday, 6-year-old Cary resident Emily Muth marked the 30th pediatric death.

"Other than that, I mean, she had had the runny nose and cough like typical, you know, and then she's gone. Also, they said she was fine".

"She was breathing a little bit heavier". The paramedics reportedly advised Muth's parents that she had typical flu symptoms that should clear up without any further medical intervention. She had tested positive for the flu three days before at an urgent care centre in Cary, according to ABC11.

Despite a desperate call to emergency services, Emily died en route to the hospital. "I mean one day she's fine, you know, and I mean she had the fever and she was a little achy". And the greater part of the sudden she simply raised up and backpedaled down.

Although paramedics returned to the premise and attempted to give Muth CPR, it was too late and the child never recovered, Patch reported.

Emily's father told ABC11 that he asks himself if more could have been done since this is the question people always ask themselves after this kind of situation. You know what I mean? A 10-year-old boy in New Canaan, Connecticut, whose mother said was healthy as 'an ox, ' died after he was rushed to a NY hospital. "The ambulance that was called that Friday morning, they saw her state", he said.

Physicians are insisting people get their flu shots, as 85 percent of the children who died were probably not vaccinated, CDC Director Brenda Fitzgerald told Reuters. Everybody loved her. "Just take it day by day", she added. The campaign set a goal of $7.500, having already passed it and has collected up to $12.565 so far, to help the family be able to afford the expenses and handle the loss.
