BJP leaders protesting against Siddaramaiah detained

Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah after meeting Congress president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi

"BJP, RSS and Bajarang Dal also have terrorists within", he had said, triggering a war of words between the ruling Congress and the saffron party ahead of the upcoming assembly polls. The state is expected to go to the polls in March-April. It will not be a contest between me and (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi.

Also, Karnataka polls is the second challenge of Rahul Gandhi, after assuming the post of Congress President, after Gujarat polls and Himachal Pradesh, Though in Gujarat, the Congress lost, Rahul was appreciated for better performance.

While the meeting discussed the overall strategy, sources said the controversy too came up.

"He (Gandhi) is very happy with the functioning of the party (in Karnataka) and the (state) government. We will win the upcoming polls with a comfortable majority", he added.

According to Siddaramaiah, the Congress had not only honoured all the promises it had made in its manifesto for the previous state polls, but "even some of the programmes not in the manifesto were implemented".

Suresh Kumar said, "CM Siddharamaiah has said some RSS and BJP members are ugragami which means militants and Dinesh Gundurao said BJP has become a terror organization, such statements of top Congress leaders are wrong. That will not work".

"I am also a Hindu, but I'm a Hindu with humanity, they are Hindus without humanity". What they (BJP) are preaching is not Hindutva.

Union Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Anant Kumar said it is regrettable that All India Congress Committee president Rahul Gandhi and Congress spokespersons are trying to politicise the issue concerned with the Supreme Court judges' press meet.
