Bengals fans give to Blake Bortles charity for beating Steelers

Now, Bengals fans are paying it forward with donations to Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles' charity, the BB5 Foundation, for ending the hated Steelers' season.

While the Cincinnati Bengals did not qualify for the playoffs, fans are still celebrating the season of giving more than two weeks into the new year.

The almost $5,000 in contributions donated so far started to come in after the Jaguars beat the Bengals' rival, the Steelers, 45-42. Bengals fans took notice of the performance against their rival and chose to thank the third-year quarterback.

More than 100 fans had donated to the Blake Bortles Foundation as of Tuesday afternoon.

In a statement released by the foundation, Bortles praised Cincinnati fans for their generous support, saying "they should know their support will make a difference".

Bengals supporters are paying forward another act of generosity from a different National Football League fan base.

Shortly after Andy Dalton's 49-yard fourth quarter touchdown pass beat the Ravens and sent the Bills to the playoffs, thankful Bills fans started donating to Dalton's charity en masse. Buffalo fans then bombarded Dalton's foundation with generous donations that eventually totaled around $300,000. Bortles' foundation gives back to local Jacksonville communities.
